DESCRIPTION:
The AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR marries innovative optical technology with superb design, offering you unrivalled performance in the world’s lightest 300mm autofocus (AF) lens*1. Built with Nikon’s proprietary Phase Fresnel (PF) lens*2, this telephoto innovation enables your images to stand out with new levels of sharpness and clarity with virtually no chromatic aberration of ghosting. Fit it to your FX-format DSLR to fully leverage its pro-level optical proficiency and capture effortlessly stunning images.
FEATURES:
FX-FORMAT COMPATIBLE, PRIME TELEPHOTO LENS WITH 300 MM* FOCAL LENGTH AND F/4 MAXIMUM APERTURE
With its compact and light design as well as high optical performance, this telephoto lens is ideal for capturing a wide range of scenes such as sports, wildlife, landscapes, portraits, and more.
* When attached to a DX-format SLR, the angle of view is equivalent to that of a lens with a focal length of 450 mm in FX/35mm format.
NOTES ON USE WITH A TELECONVERTER
The following teleconverters are compatible with this lens:
AF-S Teleconverters TC-14E III/TC-17E II*/TC-20E III*
* Autofocus is available only with single-servo AF (AF-S) and then only when the lens is mounted on a camera that supports f/8.
PF (PHASE FRESNEL) LENS FOR A COMPACT AND LIGHT BODY
Employing a PF (Phase Fresnel) lens, a first for a NIKKOR lens, an outstandingly compact and light body is realized. Compared to the current AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED, weight is reduced by approx. 545 g, length by approx. 75 mm and diameter by approx. 1 mm.
VIBRATION REDUCTION (VR) WITH AN EFFECT OF 4.5 STOPS
Image blur caused by camera shake is effectively reduced by the built-in Vibration Reduction function that provides an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 4.5 stops faster (in NORMAL mode; based on CIPA Standard*). SPORT mode, particularly effective when shooting sports, for example, in which subjects are radically moving, is adopted following the AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR.
* When attached to an FX-format digital SLR camera.
HIGH OPTICAL PERFORMANCE
Employing a PF (Phase Fresnel) lens element and an ED glass element, plus Nano Crystal Coat, superior optical performance with minimized chromatic aberration and ghost effect is achieved.
PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPRESSION UTILIZING THE F/4 MAXIMUM APERTURE IS ENABLED
Beautifully blurred pictures that cannot be attained with zoom lenses can be taken. The range of shooting applications is extended to dark scenes such as at sunset and dawn. Pictures that retain high image quality can be captured even in dark interiors
ELECTROMAGNETIC DIAPHRAGM MECHANISM IS ADOPTED
A diaphragm blade unit with drive mechanism is incorporated in the lens barrel, enabling diaphragm control via electric signals from the camera body. This ensures stable auto-exposure control even during high-speed continuous shooting.
FLUORINE COAT IS APPLIED TO THE LENS FRONT
Effectively repels dust, water droplets, grease or dirt, ensuring easy removal even if they adhere to the lens surface.
